A Young Family Crest mug is a meaningful choice as a Father’s Day gift and it's also guaranteed to get a happy reaction as a Christmas or birthday present.
Not just a mug — an artwork and your family story in your hands. Beautifully illustrated. Carefully researched. Uniquely personal.
This version of the Young family coat of arms is directly linked to County Cavan, Ireland. This specific coat of arms was officially granted by the Crown in August 1821 to Sir William Young, an Ulster-Scots descendant whose family had been heavily intertwined with Irish history for generations. After amassing a fortune as a director of the East India Company, William returned to Ireland, purchased the historic Bailieborough estate, and essentially built the modern infrastructure of the town that still stands today.
The most striking feature of this design is the inclusion of three gold trefoils—the heraldic term for three-leaf clovers. In the language of heraldry, the trefoil is a powerful symbol of longevity, perpetuity, and faith.
This rich Irish legacy reached its peak with Sir William's son, John Young, who grew up on the Bailieborough estate and went on to become the 2nd Governor General of Canada and the 1st Baron Lisgar.
Each coat of arms in the Family Crests Store is an artwork by heraldic artist Éamonn Breathnach. All are carefully researched, drawing from the earliest available records across multiple heraldic archives. Noted for their elegance and attention to detail, these artworks make meaningful and uniquely personal gifts for any occasion with family and friends.
