Whether it’s a gift to celebrate a milestone birthday, a wedding or a housewarming—this piece is an instant heirloom.

The origin of the name Vaughn

Vaughn is the primary historical spelling variant of the ancient noble Welsh surname Vaughan (Fychan / "the younger"). Widespread across Monmouthshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, and North America, families bearing the Vaughn spelling held respected manorial estates, producing high-ranking military officers, judges, and celebrated vocalists.

The symbolism of the Vaughn coat of arms

Visually pure and chivalric, the Vaughn coat of arms features a black shield charged with a broad argent / silver or white chevron, set between three silver fleurs-de-lis (two in chief, one in base). In classical heraldry, the black field symbolises deep wisdom, dignity, and unyielding constancy under trial, while the silver chevron represents fortress defense, architectural integrity, and sincerity. The three silver fleurs-de-lis signify spiritual purity, royal favor, and high nobility across generations. Positioned above the shield, the crest displays a striking plume of black and silver feathers issuing from a golden crown, symbolising noble elevation and light. Below, the motto scroll displays Non revertar inultus, translating to "I shall not return unavenged." The formal recognition of this coat of arms was recorded in British heraldic registers and catalogued in Burke's General Armory.

Historical figures

Sir William Vaughn (16th Century): Landed gentleman, magistrate, and colonial promoter.
Lady Margaret Vaughn (17th Century): Recorded gentlewoman and benefactor in Monmouthshire estate rolls.
Sarah Vaughan / Vaughn (1924–1990): Legendary American jazz singer and cultural icon.
