Schults is the primary historical spelling variant of the ancient German and Dutch magistrate surname Schults (Schultheiß / "bailiff, magistrate, judge"). Establishing premier seats across Prussia, Saxony, Holstein, and North America, families bearing the Schults spelling served as high-ranking military commanders, university professors, and international scientists.

Sharing the exact ancestral bearings of the noble Schults lineage, the Schults coat of arms features an argent / silver or white shield charged with a central dark blue or steel anchor, set beneath three golden five-pointed stars (mullets) in chief.
