Whether it’s a gift to celebrate a milestone birthday, a wedding or a housewarming—this piece is an instant heirloom.

The origin of the name Sanchez

Sanchez (Sánchez) is one of the premier ancient Spanish patronymic noble surnames meaning "son of Sancho" (derived from Latin sanctus, meaning "saintly," "holy," or "dedicated to God"). Tracing direct descent from early medieval kings of Navarre, Aragon, and Castile during the 8th and 9th centuries, the House of Sánchez established ancestral seats across Asturias, Galicia, and Old Castile. Members rose to high standing as Counts of Santa Gadea, Knights of Santiago, royal navigators, and conquistadors who established Spanish presence across the Americas.

The symbolism of the Sanchez coat of arms

Visually striking and regal, the Sanchez coat of arms features a deep blue shield charged with a central golden eagle displayed with spread wings and claws. In Iberian heraldry, the deep blue field symbolises loyalty, truth, and unyielding faith, while the central golden eagle displayed represents imperial vision, high intellect, solar courage, swift execution, and royal Sancho lineage across generations. Positioned above the shield, the crest displays a striking plume of blue and gold feathers, symbolising noble standing and light. The formal recognition of this coat of arms was documented in Castilian nobility rolls and registered in the Nobiliario Español and J.B. Rietstap’s Armorial Général.

Historical figures

Alfonso Sánchez de Castro (13th Century): Noble commander and knight recorded in early Castilian rolls.
Doña María Sánchez (16th Century): Spanish gentlewoman and benefactor recorded in Seville land charters.
Don Juan Sánchez Cotán (1560–1627): Celebrated Spanish Golden Age painter and Carthusian monk.
