Ramsey is the primary historical spelling variant of the noble Scottish clan surname Ramsay (Clan Ramsay of Dalhousie Castle). Holding ancestral lands across Midlothian, Angus, and Banffshire, families bearing the Ramsey spelling served as High Sheriffs, military commanders, and international scientists across Britain and North America.

Sharing the exact ancestral bearings of the noble Clan Ramsay lineage, the Ramsey coat of arms features an argent / silver or white shield charged with a central black eagle displayed with spread wings, golden beak, and claws.
