Whether it’s a gift to celebrate a milestone birthday, a wedding or a housewarming—this piece is an instant heirloom.

The origin of the name Myers

Myers (Miers / Myer) is an ancient English, Dutch, and German surname of dual origin: derived from Anglo-Norman French mire (meaning "physician" or "scholar") or topographic myre ("marsh/swamp"), as well as serving as a patronymic variant of Meyer ("steward"). Establishing early manorial seats across Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Essex, the family produced High Sheriffs, military officers, and scholars. Codified early in feudal records, the name appears in the 1273 Hundred Rolls of Cambridgeshire (Nicholas de la Mere).

The symbolism of the Myers coat of arms

Visually pure and maritime, the Myers coat of arms features an argent / silver or white shield charged with an ancient wooden lymphad galley with oars in action resting upon blue water. In classical heraldry, the silver shield symbolises sincerity, peace, and unblemished judicial purity. The lymphad galley denotes maritime skill, sea voyages, commercial exploration, and coastal defense. Positioned above the shield, the crest displays a mermaid holding a golden mirror in her right hand and a golden comb in her left—an emblem of eloquence, maritime guardianship, self-knowledge, and good fortune. The formal recognition of this coat of arms was recorded in British heraldic registries and catalogued in Burke's General Armory.
