A Magee Family Crest mug is a meaningful choice for celebrating family heritage and makes an excellent gift for Father’s Day, Christmas, or birthdays.

The Origin & History

This Magee coat of arms is affiliated with the Scottish family MacGill, also spelled McGill or Makgill. The name MacGill derives from a different Gaelic root, Mac an Ghoill, meaning son of the stranger. The association of this specific design stems from phonetic similarities and historical clerical variations in southwest Scotland and Ulster, where the names MacGhee and MacGill were occasionally transcribed interchangeably in civil and parish registers, leading to its cross-listing in nineteenth-century records.

The symbolism of the coat of arms

The arms consist of a red shield (Gules) containing three golden birds (Or), which are traditionally classified in heraldic terms as martlets, or swallows.
