Whether it’s a gift to celebrate a milestone birthday, a wedding or a housewarming—this piece is an instant heirloom.

The origin of the name Grant

Grant is an ancient Scottish Highland clan surname (Clan Grant / Clann Grannd) derived from Old French grand (meaning "great," "large," or "tall"). Establishing their primary seats in Strathspey and Inverness-shire during the 13th century, Clan Grant held major medieval strongholds including Castle Grant and Urquhart Castle along Loch Ness, serving as royal sheriffs, landholders, and Highland chieftains.

The symbolism of the Grant coat of arms

Regal and bold, the Grant coat of arms features a red shield charged with three golden antique crowns. In classical heraldry, the red shield symbolises martial valour, courage, and fortitude, while the three golden crowns represent royal allegiance, sovereignty, ancestral dignity, and triple triumph across generations. Positioned above the shield, the crest displays a red lion. The formal recognition of this coat of arms was registered in the Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland (1672) for Grant of Freuchie / Castle Grant and documented in Nisbet's System of Heraldry.

Historical figures

Sir Laurence de Grant (13th Century): Early Sheriff of Inverness recorded in medieval Scottish charters.
Lady Anne Grant (17th Century): Scottish gentlewoman recorded in Strathspey parish rolls.
Anne Grant of Laggan (1755–1838): Celebrated Scottish author, poet, and cultural historian of the Highlands.
