The origin of the name Gasperoni

Gasperoni is an ancient Italian patronymic noble surname derived from the personal name Gaspare (Casper / Gaspard, from Persian ganjabara, meaning "treasurer" or "keeper of treasure"). Originating in San Marino, Romagna, Tuscany, and the Papal States during the Middle Ages, families bearing the Gasperoni name served as civic magistrates, captains of the republic, and ecclesiastical leaders.

The symbolism of the Gasperoni coat of arms

Commanding and celestial, the Gasperoni coat of arms features a deep blue shield charged with a central golden lion rampant, set beneath three golden five-pointed stars in chief. In classical Italian heraldry, the deep blue shield represents loyalty, truth, and steadfast faith, while the golden lion symbolises supreme courage, heroism, and noble leadership. The three golden stars denote divine guidance, wisdom, and intellectual illumination. The formal recognition of this coat of arms was documented in Italian patrician rolls (Enciclopedia Storico-Nobiliare Italiana) and catalogued in J.B. Rietstap’s Armorial Général.

Historical figures

Gasparo Gasperoni (16th Century): Italian magistrate and civic leader in Romagna.
Caterina Gasperoni (17th Century): Noblewoman and benefactor recorded in San Marino historical archives.
Giuseppe Gasperoni (18th Century): Scholar and ecclesiastical authority in the Papal States.
