The origin of the name Erickson

Erickson (along with its Scandinavian forms Eriksson and Erichsen) is an ancient patronymic surname meaning "son of Erik" (derived from Old Norse Eiríkr, composed of ei, meaning "ever" or "eternal," and ríkr, meaning "ruler" or "king"). Rooted in Viking history, the name was borne by early Norse royal dynasties across Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Following Scandinavian emigration, the Anglicised spelling Erickson became widely established in Britain and North America.

The symbolism and formal recognition of the Erickson coat of arms

Visually refined, the Erickson coat of arms features an argent / silver or white field divided vertically per pale, charged with a dimidiated deep blue fleur-de-lis on the left and a deep blue saltire cross (St. Andrew's cross) on the right. In classical heraldry, the argent / silver or white field denotes sincerity and peace, while the deep blue fleur-de-lis represents grace, purity, and noble service. The blue saltire cross symbolises architectural strength and steadfast faith. The formal recognition of this armorial design was codified in Nordic patrician registers and international European heraldic compilations.
