Whether it’s a gift to celebrate a milestone birthday, a wedding or a housewarming—this piece is an instant heirloom.

The origin of the name Duran

Duran (Durán) is an ancient Spanish and Catalan noble surname derived from the personal name Durán (from Latin durandus, meaning "enduring" or "steadfast"). Originating in Aragon, Catalonia, and Castile during the early Middle Ages, families bearing the Duran name held prominent manorial fiefs, civic offices, and military commands. The House of Durán expanded significantly during the Reconquista and 16th-century transatlantic administration.

The symbolism of the Duran coat of arms

Visually striking, the Duran coat of arms features a quarterly field: the 1st and 4th quarters display vertical stripes of blue and radiant gold (paly of azure and gold), while the 2nd and 3rd golden quarters each display three diagonal green leaves. In Iberian heraldry, the vertical blue and gold stripes symbolise loyalty, truth, and knightly distinction. The golden quarters and green leaves represent prosperity, hope, renewal, and agricultural lordship. Positioned above the shield, the crest displays blue and gold feather plumes. Recorded in the Nobiliario Español and J.B. Rietstap’s Armorial Général.
