Whether it’s a gift to celebrate a milestone birthday, a wedding or a housewarming—this piece is an instant heirloom.

The origin of the name Connor

Connor (O'Connor) is one of Ireland's most historic royal surnames, derived from Ó Conchobhair, meaning "descendant of Conchobhar" (high resolve or lover of hounds). The O'Connors were the royal ruling house of Connacht, producing the last High Kings of Ireland (including Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair and Rory O'Connor). Other historical royal branches held sovereign territories in Offaly, Kerry, and Corcomroe (Clare). Recorded extensively across every major Irish historical chronicle.

The symbolism of the Connor coat of arms

Commanding and regal, the Connor coat of arms features a green shield charged with a crowned golden lion rampant. In heraldry, the green shield symbolises the landscape of Ireland, vitality, and hope, while the crowned golden lion represents royal sovereignty, heroic courage, and supreme leadership. Positioned above the shield, the crest displays a raised arm holding a sword aloft. Below, the motto scroll displays Nec timeo, nec sperno, translating to "I neither fear nor despise." Officially catalogued in Edward MacLysaght’s Irish Families.

Historical figures

Rory O'Connor (c. 1116–1198): The last High King of Ireland before the Anglo-Norman invasion.
Sandra Day O'Connor (1930–2023): Groundbreaking American jurist who served as the first female Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Flannery O'Connor (1925–1964): Celebrated American novelist and short-story writer considered one of the greatest Southern Gothic authors.
