Coen is a historic surname of dual Gaelic Irish and European origin. In Ireland, it serves as an Anglicised form of the Connacht surname Ó Cuaich (meaning "cuckoo") or Mac Eoin (son of John), centered in County Galway and County Mayo. In continental Europe, Coen also developed as a Dutch and Germanic personal and family name derived from Conrad (meaning "bold counsel") or as a variant of the Hebrew priestly name Cohen.
