Steeped in the romantic history of medieval Spain, Aguilar is a noble topographic surname derived from the Latin word aquilare, translating beautifully to "the haunt of eagles." It is a name born of high altitudes and sweeping landscapes. Originating in the powerful Kingdom of Castile, the Aguilar family built formidable fortresses and established prominent noble seats, leaving a legacy of leadership that eventually crossed the oceans to Latin America.

The symbolism of the Aguilar coat of arms

It proudly displays a bold black eagle displayed (sable) with its wings spread across a radiant gold (or) shield.
