His descendants assumed the territorial surname de Adburgham, which over the centuries evolved phonetically into Abraham and Abram.

  • Medieval Recording (14th Century): By the late 14th century, as the family name stabilized as Abraham, official heraldic rolls recorded Azure, a sun in splendour Or as the primary coat of arms for the manorial heads of the Abraham / Abram line in Lancashire.

  • Master Registries: The coat of arms was continually verified and preserved in official records, later appearing in standard reference works such as the Victoria County History of Lancashire and master compendiums like Sir Bernard Burke’s General Armory and Arthur Charles Fox-Davies’s The Art of Heraldry: An Encyclopædia of Armory.
